Emman is a London based creative director, artist, stylist, curator, designer and brand consultant.
Born in Australia, Emman studied womenswear design in Melbourne before moving to London to pursue further studies in art, archiving, and curatorial practice. She went on to complete her Master’s in Culture, Curation and Criticism at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Fascinated with tailoring and couture techniques, Emman began her fashion career as a fur seamstress and milliner, assisting custom designers in London, including the former head of embroidery at Mr Pearl’s atelier.
Emman has also worked as a fashion and art model, marking her introduction to the art world through collaborations in performance and design across museums and galleries in Europe, including Frieze with Berlin-based artist Donna Huanca.
In addition to her creative practice, Emman has worked on image direction as a brand consultant for GmbH, Trussardi, and Alexander McQueen. As a contributor to Acne Paper, Emman’s work for the magazine was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum alongside The Great Mughals: Art, Architecture, and Opulence exhibition. Most recently, Emman presented her solo debut exhibition The Jewellery Box at Acne Paper, Palais Royal, Paris.
Emman draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of cultural symbolism, exploring themes that range from biology to antiquity. In her work, she brings together everyday ornaments, archival research, and historical references with cinematic spectacle, camp glamour, and subversive humour.
